BJP's Breakthrough Awards are back and we're looking for the world's best photography students and recent graduates. We'll be selecting four outstanding photographers to have their work presented in a group exhibition in east London, be published on BJP's print magazine, and on our online and digital platforms, and receive expert advice on launching a successful career in photography.

Peckham 24
Peckham, London | Sat 20 May -  Sun 21 May 2017  
Peckham 24 is a collaboration between a network of Peckham-based artists, galleries and art spaces. The festival is co-founded and run by Jo Dennis and Vivienne Gamble.
The founding principle of Peckham 24 is to create a moment during Photo London week to celebrate the work of cutting-edge contemporary photographic artists.
American Xerography by Matt Martin
Doomed Gallery, London | Opens Tues 16 May 
American Xerography is a new exhibition by Photographer Matt Martin. Matt has been photographing the American landscape since 2009 and since then has made zines and small press publications as well as exhibitions covering this work.

Since 2014 Matt has been focused on documenting the West Coast, primarily Los Angles and the surrounding areas. This exhibition is a series of new work of xerox prints that have been scanned, printed, rescanned and printed as well as working with a range of different paper textures and colours. 
Harry Gruyaert 'Western and Eastern Light'
Michael Hoppen Gallery, London | Tues 9 May -  Tues 27 June 2017 
Western and Eastern Light is made up of an overview of works of Gruyaert's varying series' spanning from the landscapes of Morocco to the streets of Moscow, highlighting the artist's ability to "photograph the subtle chromatic vibrations of Western and Eastern Light."

THF Aisling McCoy
Belfast Exposed Photography, Belfast | Running until Sat 27 April 2017
As part of the Belfast Exposed Futures programme, Aisling McCoy's THF is a new project exploring the former Templehof airport in Berlin. The Nazi Air Ministry commissioned the building in 1936, envisioned by the regime as the 'Gateway to Europe'. 
Irving Penn: Centennial
The Met, New York | Running until Sun 30 July 2017
The most comprehensive retrospective to date of the work of the great American photographer Irving Penn (1917–2009), this exhibition will mark the centennial of the artist's birth. Over the course of his nearly 70-year career, Penn mastered a pared-down aesthetic of studio photography that is distinguished for its meticulous attention to composition, nuance, and detail.
Georgia O'Keeffe: Living Modern
Brooklyn Museum, New York | Running until Sun 30 July 2017
Georgia O'Keeffe: Living Modern takes a new look at how the renowned modernist artist proclaimed her progressive, independent lifestyle through a self-crafted public persona—including her clothing and the way she posed for the camera. The exhibition expands our understanding of O'Keeffe by focusing on her wardrobe, shown for the first time alongside key paintings and photographs. It confirms and explores her determination to be in charge of how the world understood her identity and artistic values.

Camera Press at 70 - A Lifetime in Pictures

Camera Press celebrates its 70th anniversary this year with a special exhibition coinciding with Photo London 2017.
Drawing on an unparalleled collection of images, and featuring work by some of the most iconic figures in the industry, this exhibition offers a fascinating insight into photography from the 1940s to the present day.
Perpetual Revolution: The Image and Social Change
ICP, New York | Running until Sun 7 May 2017
Perpetual Revolution explores the relation between the overwhelming world of imagery that confronts us, and the volatile, provocative, and often-violent social world it mirrors. Presenting six of these critical issues transformed by visual culture: #BlackLivesMatter, gender fluidity, climate change, terrorist propaganda, the right-wing fringe and the 2016 election, and the refugee crisis.

OnesToWatch The sixth edition of our annual talent issue is perhaps our most eclectic yet, celebrating emerging photographers breaking into commercial and editorial fields, or establishing themselves on their own terms with personal projects that define their individual take on the world. They are drawn from six continents, put forward by a global network of nominators with local and international expertise, from Vogue Italia's Chiara Bardelli Nonino to Chinese photography critic Bao Kun.
